Anderson ties class record for WINS!

Reigning Pro Stock champion Greg Anderson tied his own class record for victories in a single season by claiming his 12th trophy of the year Sunday at Infineon Raceway. Doug Kalitta, Tim Wilkerson, and Angelle Savoie also claimed wins at the 17th annual FRAM Autolite NHRA Nationals, the 15th of 23 events on the POWERade Drag Racing Series.

Anderson is the 6.6s again for No. 1 at Sonoma

Pro Stock powerhouse Greg Anderson earned his 11th low qualifier award of the 2004 season and added Infineon Raceway to the short list of tracks where a 6.6-second pass has been recorded Saturday with a lightning-strike run of 6.693 seconds at 206.01 mph. Only fans in Sonoma, Englishtown, Seattle, and Houston have witnessed a Pro Stocker run such a quick quarter-mile pass.

Myers and Taylor notch thrilling wins at Infineon Lucas Oil Series event

Top Alcohol Dragster driver Mitch Meyers, out of Hermiston, Ore., came out of the No. 1 qualifying spot, went even quicker in eliminations at 5.261 seconds, and won a stirring final round victory over former Pacific Division Champion Duane Shields of Las Vegas, 5.313 to 5.381. Shields, who had run the Top Speed of the event in round on at 272.01 mph, hit 266.21 in the final and couldn’t close any ground on Myers, who ripped through the speed traps at 267.00 mph. Myers will take the winner’s share of Lucas Oil Series points back to the Northwest Division with him, and Shields will close ground from his No. 4 spot in the Pacific Division on points leaders Chris Demke and Don Hudson, each of whom lost in the semi-finals.
