Gary Williams Celebrates 30th Annual Race of Champions Win with Mom and Dad

Two-time Million Dollar Race winner, Gary Williams, claimed victory at the Race of Champions Anniversary Shootout at the 30th Anniversary of the Mickey Thompson Tires & Wheels Million Dollar Race at World Wide Technology Raceway. Williams a two time Champ defeated 2020 winner, Kevin Brannon, after Brannon turned it red in the final round.

Williams said “this is a really neat, prestigious race. One of the coolest things I’ve ever been involved in. I was more hyped-up for this than I have been for a lot of races.”

Joined by his proud parents, his father Troy Williams and his mom, Jeanette, watched their son win this honorable event, behind the wheel of his Overkill Motorsports’ Folk Race Cars Dragster. The event featured past champions, including the first Million Dollar Race winner, TJ Tracey. The race ladder set by a chip draw from Folk Promotions before the first round.
Monday saw a record-breaking 560 tech cards sold, marking the biggest Monday tech cards in the event’s history.

Kris Whitfield Wins the TBM Brakes $20,000 Tuesday at the Million

We have our second winner of the weekend and it’s an event sponsor, Kris Whitfield, owner of Dialed In Details. Whitfield defeated Josh Pickett of Indiana in the final round, laying down a 13 thousandths total package. Whitfield was .013 on the tree and dead on his dial with a zero.

Whitfield is currently leading the points in the NHRA Super Comp World Championship and a great momentum boost headed into the 4th quarter of the 2025 season for the Denver Colorado based racer.

Kevin Rodden Wins Wednesday's Summit Racing Equipment $50,000 Race.

Wednesday’s Summit Racing Equipment 50K is in the books, and another main event sponsor, Kevin Rodden, of K&R Performance, is in the winner’s circle. Rodden defeated Gage Burch in an all-door-car final round on day three of the 30th Annual Mickey Thompson Million Dollar Race.

On Tuesday, event sponsor, Kris Whitfield, owner of Dialed-In Details won the TBM Brakes main event. That makes two wins for Million Dollar Race sponsors in just two days.

Rodden said, “I’m long overdue for winning a big one. I’ve gotten runner-up finishes in the $50k races, but I’ve never won one. I was vulnerable early in the race and got by when I needed to, but I finally found my groove later in the race.”

He added, “Special thanks to each and every customer of K&R Performance. The racers are what’s important to me, and I thank them.”

Alabama’s Chad Spradlin Wins the Biggest Payout in Million Dollar Race History: the 30th Annual OG Million Dollar Race

The 30th Annual Mickey Thompson Tires & Wheels Million Dollar Race at World Wide Technology Raceway saw a record number of entries in competition, making it the biggest and highest-paying event in the history of the “Big Go” of Bracket Racing.

There were 534 entries in the Million Dollar Race Main Event and 792 entries in the Summit Racing Equipment Triple 50’s.
When the dust and smoke cleared, Chad Spradlin of Cullman, Alabama, was crowned the 30th Anniversary winner of the historic and most prestigious bracket race in the world—“The OG Million.”

Spradlin defeated the “young gun” Jaden Lawler in the final round of competition., of the biggest paying Million Dollar Race in HIstory - $750,000.

The hype surrounding “The OG Million” was at its peak as thousands tuned into MotorManiaTV, racers crowded the starting line, and families cheered on their loved ones. First-time champion Chad Spradlin was added to the prestigious list of past Million Dollar Race winners.

Robert Murphy and Michael Pennington were the semifinalists. Stephen McCrory, Chuck Ridenour, and the 2024 Million Dollar Race winner Bart Nelson were the quarterfinalists.

Spradlin said, “This is just unbelievable. It’s hard to believe that I’m standing here in the winner’s circle as a Million Dollar Race winner. I didn’t drive my best at the start of the weekend, but after a pep talk from my wife, things turned around and fell into place. I am very thankful for my family and friends.”

“I told TJ in the quarter-finals that I was planning to meet him in the winner’s circle for an interview, and I actually did. Unbelievable.”

The young Jaden Lawler, joined by Will Holloman, family, and friends, became one of the youngest drag racers to ever compete in a Million Dollar Race final round. He was one round short of being the youngest champion in history.

The 30th Annual Mickey Thompson Million Dollar Race will conclude with the Summit Racing Equipment $100,000 Main Event and go down in the books as the biggest in history, attracting racers from as far as Hermosillo, Sonora, Mexico.

Folk Promotions thanked all the racers for their overwhelming support of “The OG Million,” World Wide Technology Raceway, and the entire staff for their help in making this year’s event a huge success.

Logan Back Wins $100,000 Summit Racing Equipment Main Event at the Million.

One driver was left standing during the completion of Saturday’s $100,000 Summit Racing Equipment main event at World Wide Technology Raceway and it was the “GoDeadOn” app developer Logan Back. Back defeating Todd Piper in the final round.

792 entries staged for the first round of competition, making it the biggest Summit Racing Equipment Triple 50’s in the Mickey Thompson Tires & Wheels Million Dollar Race history.

Andrew DiPiazza was the lone semi-finalist.

Back said, “I’m just speechless right now. It’s been a crazy week, and I got lucky when I needed to be. I’m happy to be racing.”

“I want to thank my grandfather back at home, my mom and dad. I called my mom on the way back to the winner’s circle.”

“My success today was due to my app, GoDeadOn.”

Saturday’s $100,000 event completed the 30th Annual Mickey Thompson Million Dollar Race, the largest Million and Triple 50s in history.
