A hard-fought season across the Mid-South and Ohio Valley concluded this past weekend at London Dragway in London, KY. Two races to cap the season in one chilly weekend. Lots of opportunity on the table this weekend to chase down the number 1 spot.

After a solid Friday test session, we woke up on the mountain to a chilly Saturday morning with staggering mineshaft conditions. Left and right, racers were fighting to slow their cars down from a season’s quick session. Just a handful had it slowed down enough amongst the cars from near and far. Dru Williams from Michigan received the Worldwide Express Long Haul Award for coming down to try and crack the field.

In the Outlaw Trailers 4.50 Class, Jeremy Jensen slapped a 4.500 on the board in session 1 which held up for the Drag Race Solutions #1 Qualifier. Kelly Foster wasn’t far behind with his 4.502 grabbing that $100 Certificate.

In our GTech Cleaners 4.70 Class, Chase Alderman put a 4.701 on the board and Phillip Conkright ran 4.702 for the Drag Race Solutions #1 and #2 Qualifiers.

Chris Vanover made the most headway in 4.70 points making to round 4 while those ahead both bowed out in round 1. However, things stopped there. Allen Owens (photo above) took the win over Randy Chesnut in finals Saturday.

Meanwhile in 4.50…Ron Stayer Jr. (photo above) ran the table on Saturday while Carroll Click watched on from a distance ahead in points. Aaron Roberts was also chasing, but just a bit farther back with his Runner-Up finish that evening. Both came into the race tied for 4th.

In the Get’M Performance Jr Dragsters, Eli Wiggins laid down the law with his early statement that he would put that new wrap in the winner’s circle and did just that.

With the points now tighter in both classes and one race remaining we packed ‘em in the trailers and let the frost set in overnight. We kicked off Sunday morning with a bit more pace and got things rolling. Taking home DRS Qualifier money were Chase Conley #1 and Dustin Martin #2 in Outlaw Trailers 4.50 and then the Father-Son duo of Jim & James Hayes took #2 and #1 Qualifier.

Sunday morning was not any nicer to Carroll Click as his weekend wrapped up in round 1. The next two rounds determined the fate of the Championship as Ron Stayer Jr. continued to make laps passing Carroll for the Championship. Ron wouldn’t falter until the final round where he finally met Jeremy Jensen. Both taking a shot at the XS Power Perfect Charge $25K, but neither one pulling together the right run.

A wild comeback in one class, however in the GTech Cleaners 4.70, everything was locked down by the end of round 1. All three contenders were stacked at the back of the lanes. #3 in points, Chris Vanover fell, followed immediately by a red light from #1 in points Jason Hutcheson. The door wide open for Jeremy Bargo, but even he couldn’t beat the round 1 blues. Jason Hutcheson held on to the Championship amongst all the chaos. When it came to the end of the day, Chad Christy pulled everything together through the day to win as Jerry Duke drops it red in the final round.

Get’M Performance Jr Dragsters ended in similar fashion with Eli Wiggins bowing out early allowing Kenlee Morrison to retain the #1 spot and win the Championship in the 10 & Up age group. Jaxson Jenson (3rd overall) grabbed the 6-9 Year Old Championship.

It was a great event and a great season! I was thrilled to spend it with all of you throughout the year and can’t wait to do it again! We will send out details for the banquet on December 3rd here soon.
