Carolina Nationals Bound with Momentum for Strassweg
The 2017 NHRA Lucas Oil Season is almost over, upcoming are the final races available to collect points, racers are looking at every opportunity, even opportunities that are 10 hours of drive time one way. Nonetheless, JB Strassweg has been to 3 finals in the 2017 season and he is coming off a win at the North Central Division 3 Race at Beech Bend and intends to keep the momentum heading into his final points claim in October at Gateway.
"At this point, being in the car and competing against tough competition will keep me sharp as a driver and will keep our program moving forward, we are always evaluating race conditions to improve the car, the weather is starting to turn cooler, tuning variables are coming, better for us to deal with them as much as we can, and heck who doesn't like winning Wally" smiled Strassweg.
Strassweg currently sits atop the North Central Division leaderboard in Top Dragster combined with the number 3 position in the National Standings. Currently, on the national event level, Strassweg is done accumulating points at national events, so why go?
"After winning Bowling Green and runner up finish at the Indy event, we had a really good August, we don't have any points opportunities until the end of October, I can not sit at home and watch the points play out while trying to not pay attention, we can't gain points at nationals, but we can get in the way, off to Zmax and St Louis and then we will see where we go, but the eyes on the prize is St Louis in October," stated JB.
The wait for St Louis may seem like forever, however, in just 37 short days Strassweg will roll into the gates of Gateway Motorsports Park looking to place a stranglehold on the North Central Division Top Dragster Title, and there is a pack of drivers behind Strassweg looking to make it a rough road to claim the title.
"D3 is tough, you finish in the Top 10 in our division that says something with how quick the fields are and to be Top 5, that is just an accomplishment in itself, we have to stay grounded and focused, Coughlin is back there, Ellison is on heels and as they say it ain't over yet," nodded Strassweg.
The racing is not possible without all the great companies that support the journey, passion, ups, and downs with the organization, without the support of VP Racing Fuels, Lucas Oil, Mickey Thompson Tires, Oakley Engine Performance, NGK Spark Plugs, K&N Filters, ATM Innovations, Simpson Race Products, Coolshirt Systems, Modern Supply, Racepak, Diamond Pistons, Trend Performance Products, Abruzzi Transmissions, Quick Fuel, NOS Systems, Braille Battery and Brodix.
