In anticipation of a busy 2017 season and with the intent of retaining its status as the Carolinas' fastest track, Rockingham Dragway has contracted with Freeburn Race Track Repair to grind and profile both of its high-traction lanes from the eighth mile through the quarter mile, a project that has made it necessary for track owner Steve Earwood to cancel the test-and-tune events scheduled Dec. 3rd and Dec. 10th.

Unaffected will be the KMS Drift finale on Saturday, Dec. 10th, since it does not utilize the drag strip surface itself.

"Our goal is have the smoothest racetrack on the circuit as well as the fastest," Earwood said. “What we’re looking for is smooth, consistent concrete and asphalt and I know the Freeburn people understand that."

The work should be completed in 10 days, well in advance of the initial pro test sessions that will precede the start of the 2017 campaign. A 2017 race schedule that will include the return of the ADRL Pro Mod Series will be released before the end of the year, Earwood said.
