Rick Robertson from Tuscumbia, Alabama is the DragRaceResults.com pick for Racer of the Month.

Rick is driving a 1969 Z/28 Camaro that he has owned for the past 20 years. He got his start with a little street racing and then in 1981, he put a delay box in the car and headed for Bowling Green, Kentucky winning a $10,000 dollar race!

Rick went on to win various Big Buck Races in Tennessee and Alabama. About the same time in 1981, Rick purchased his first bracket car, or we should say cars! A 454 powered Vega, which he won 1981 Points Champion in at his home track — North Alabama Dragway. Rick continued to race the Vega, a 27 Roadster, and a 5 second SS Monte Carlo through the 80’s with no electronics. Entering as many as 80 races a year and being in as many as 37 finals each year, he found himself several times having two of his cars in the final round.

Various races were won in Alabama, Tennessee, and Mississippi, with purses ranging from $500 to $10,000. One of the biggest highlights Rick has experienced was entering two cars in Super Pro and one in Foot Brake with all three in the final! All three cars had no electronics!

Through the 90’s Rick has raced his Z/28 Camaro and a Spitzer Dragster in various races around the country. It was in 1998 that the delay box was taken out of the Z/28 and entered in a B&M Race in Alabama. Rick Robertson won Friday and Saturday’s races and got down to three cars on Sunday. He won the points and was hooked on footbrake racing!

Several races have been won since then, including the B&M Foot Brake Race in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and a 1999 B&M race in Bristol, TN.

In 2000, Rick raced all of the B&M races winning in: Huntsville, AL, Reynolds, GA, Bristol, TN, and was runner up in the $5,000 Memphis race. Rick also won the B&M Pro Foot Brake World Championship for 2000!

Congratulations go out to you Rick and we will see you in 2001!
