Car of the Month

This months featured car of the month is our first featured FOOTBRAKE cars.

Owned and driven by Steve and Brenda Taylor out of Raleigh, North Carolina. Brenda, also a foot brake driver bought her 1993 Black Z-24 late in 1992.

Steve purchased a white 1994 Z-24 in 1995 and soon realized that the Cavalier was a excellent race car for the foot Brake class of Bracket Racing. . The Red Cavalier which is the third car of the Taylor Racing team was purchased in 1996. The final Z-24 was purchased in July of 1997 . These cars are driven to the track on pumped gas and driven back home again after the race is won!

They are so confident in their cars and themselves that they often enter delay box races and go rounds! Steve is the only racer in the B&M series history to win a delay box race in a foot-brake car, this occurred at Rockingham Dragway, July 1996.

Each car is equipped with a 3.1 liter V-6 and is rated by Chevrolet at 140 horse power, with TH 125 trans, stock wheels and no electronics. They are deep-staged. Equipped with anti lock braking systems allow the Taylors to slow their car at the finish line as much as they want without tire smoke or the dangers of losing control.

In October 1998, Steve entered the 1994 Cavalier in all three classes at the Super Chevy Show at Rockingham Dragway. By the end of the day, he had won all 9 rounds in the all run S/P class, runner-up in the Pro class which is Footbrake, and runner-up in the DOT quarter-mile class. He had run 22 rounds in one afternoon with the car running most of the time. He never raised the hood of the car one time!

In 1999, the Red Cavalier ran in an estimated 160 races , 30 finals and 23 wins! With 35 years of racing experience, Steve Taylor is looking forward to the 2000 racing season and another great season of Footbrake racing!
