Racer of the Month

Sherman Adcock, Jr. is December Racer of the Month

As lead driver for the A3L Motorsports team, Sherman Adcock, Jr. had a great season in 1999. The crowning jewel for the year had to be the hard fought victory in the 1999 B&M MILLION DOLLAR RACE in October. Competing in NHRA Super Gas and Super Comp categories through out the year, Sherman turned his talents toward BRACKET RACING action to finish out the year. He has always enjoyed bracket racing but with sponsor commitments we need to devote most of our time to the NHRA events. Brother and Crew Chief Woody Adcock, guides Sherman through the races. Including the B&M MILLION. Woody is the bracket racing expert of the group winning more than his share of events in a variety of cars.

The Million Dollar Weekend found the two brothers working side by side putting together a fierce package round after round.

The A3L team founded in 1996, consists of the 2 Adcock brothers. Sherman Adcock, SR.,and Tim Lunceford. The senior Adcock is a Veteran Stock and Super-Stock racer and guides the team using his many years of experience.

Focus for the team has been primarily on the super classes and bracket racing in the past. For the year 2000 racing season a Super Stocker will be added to the mix. Relying on the guidance of Sherman SR., the Super Stock program is sure to be competitive right out of the box. Continuing their long time loyalty to Pontiac, a FIREBIRD GT class will be the 2nd team car in addition to a new RAY MILLER Super -Comp Dragster.

All the team cars will again carry the VALVOLINE Team Colors and Graphics. The Team has enjoyed a long relationship with Valvoline, promoting a variety of products.

Team member Lunceford added, “Without Valvoline we would not be able to compete at the level we do. The Millenium Edition of the team cars will feature Valvoline’s Eagle One Line Of Car Care Products. In addition to Valvoline, vital support from Ray Miller, race cars, A.R.T., Hoosier Tire, and GOZA racing products enable the the team to always be competitive. Look for the the BLACK EAGLE cars hitting the track in 2000!

As a closing thought, Sherman Adcock, JR., added..."Winning the MILLION dollar race not only made our season, it made our careers. I thought winning the Super Gas World Championship was big but with the level of competition at the race, we have ascended to the next level. I am very thankful to Geroge Howard of Montgomery MotorSports Park, John Spar and B&M racing and performace and everyone else who made this race possible. I really think this promotes bracket racing as the professional sport it has become."

Well said Sherman and congradulation to you and your team for the outstanding job you do for our sport. Not only on the track but off the track as well.

We all look forward to seeing you and the Black Eagle in the New Millenium.
