IRR gives Outlaw Pro-Mod's 2nd Chance
03/30/03
Immokalee, FL -

mmokalee Regional Raceway hosted an Outlaw Pro-Mod Race on March 8th, which didn't turn out as well as expected. With 15 to 20 cars committing to show for the event and only a half dozen or so showing up and then a few of those breaking during qualifying had fans up in arms. It was still some of the fastest racing in south Florida but just not enough of it. Ralph Hester (Owner of I.R.R.) wanted everyone to be happy and enjoy a full day of racing so he decided to host a 2nd Pro Mod Outlaw Race on Saturday, April 12th and cutting the gate admission in half to ($10) and contacting Pro Mod drivers explaining our commitment to the fans and explaining how their lack of commitment left us in a tight spot. With this in mind these drivers understood our position and have committed to us to show. This means that round 1 of elimination's will have a full 8-car field even if one breaks during qualifying we will move the 9th qualifier into the 8th spot.

I.R.R hosted it's 4th points race of the season this past weekend along with a 10.5 inch tire class race. In the 10.5 tire class final round it was Russ Jung of Oakland Park taking on Bill Futch of Immokalee. Jung got the win as Futch leaving too soon turned on the red light. Both drivers still running it out, giving the fans a show, Futch running in the mid to high 4's at 160 MPH and Jung running in the low 5's at 145 MPH.

In the Sportsman Class final round it was Casey Miles of Boca Raton taking on Ryan Myers of Bonita Springs. Miles got the win on a double breakout. Miles running a 8.856 ET on a 8.86 dial with a .540 RT while Myers breaking out by 1 thousandth of a second more (6.675 ET on a 6.68 dial with a .535 RT) giving Miles the automatic win. This win for Miles moved him into first place over Bob Bjorkman by 3 points.

In the Jr. Dragster class final round it was Randi-Lynn Avon of Davie taking on Nathan Gray of Ft. Lauderdale. Randi-Lynn got the win running right on her dial 8.79 with a .566 RT while Gray cutting a better light (.525) but could only run a 7.98 ET on a 7.91 dial. In the semi final rounds it was Gray getting the win over Daniel Futch and Randi-Lynn getting the win over her brother Butchie Avon.
