IRR pays the Big $ and Gears up for 1st Points Race

his past weekend (Jan. 3rd) Immokalee Regional Raceway paid out the big money once again with a combined total purse over $5000 dollars. I.R.R is also gearing up for it's 1st Points race of the season January 10th. The weekend kicked off Friday night with a 5.50 Index race where we found local racer Todd Thompson of Naples taking home top honors. In the final round it was Thompson taking on John Taylor of Naples. Thompson got the win as Taylor leaving too soon turned on the red light. In the semi final rounds it was Thompson getting the win over Mike Sooley of Naples while Taylor got the win over Tony Thompson of Naples.

In the Saturday night Big Bucks Bracket Race Combo class final round it was Claude DeBonis of Ft. Lauderdale taking on Kenny Underwood of Tampa. DeBonis got the win running a 4.78 ET on a 4.77 dial with a .538 RT while Underwood, breaking out of his bracket trying to stay ahead ran 7.10 ET on a 7.12 dial with a .514 RT. In the semi final rounds it was DeBonis getting the win over Larry Langley of Naples and Underwood getting the win over Garry Williams of Bradenton.

In the Sportsman Class final round it was Garry Williams taking on Britton McClintuck of Bradenton. Williams got the win cutting a .506RT and idling down the track as McClintuck leaving too soon (.480) turned on the red light. In the semi final rounds it was Williams taking on Chris Adams of Sarasota. Williams got the win running a 6.58 ET on a 6.57 dial with a .506 RT while Adams running dead on his dial (8.01) with a .543 RT. In the other semi final round it was McClintuck taking on Phil Anzalone of Bonita. McClintuck got the win running a 7.62 ET on a 7.58 dial with a .510 RT while Anzalone running a 7.19 ET on a 7.16 dial with a slower .621 RT.

In the Jr. Dragster final round it was Justin Gilchrist of Boca Raton taking on Randi-Lynn Avon of Davie. Gilchrist got the win running a 7.98 ET on a 7.91 dial with a .547 RT while Avon running a 8.59 ET on a 8.52 dial with a .606 RT. In the semi final rounds it was Avon getting the bye run to the final while Gilchrist was taking on Randi-Lynn's brother Butchie. Gilchrist got the win running a 7.91 ET on a 7.90 dial with a .576 RT while Butchie having a better reaction time (.516) but running off his dial (8.02 ET on 7.90 dial).
