Coalition Drivers Duel for Race-Ready RACETECH Dragster
01/28/04
Rockingham, NC

he four track operators involved in the production of the Doug Herbert Performance Products Carolina Coalition Drag Racing Series announced at the year-end awards banquet a substantial upgrade of the prizes for which racers will compete in a special year-end event at Rockingham Dragway.

Sixty-four Top Eliminator drivers whose names are drawn at random will compete at Rockingham Dragway for a RACETECH dragster complete with Beal Racing Engines powerplant and BTE transmission and converter, a $60,000 value. The car will be ready-to-run thanks to additional equipment from Brodix Cylinder Heads, Centerline Racing Wheels and Doug Herbert Performance Products.

Eligibility is subject to participation in the eight-race Herbert Carolina Coalition Series which begins here March 6-7. Every time a Top Eliminator (Super Pro) racer enters a Coalition event at Rockingham, Piedmont Dragway, Farmington Dragway or Mooresville Dragway, his number will be entered for the year-end drawing.

The race itself will be run in conjunction with the season finale at Rockingham, Sept. 18-19.

Prizes also have been upgraded for the other shootouts. The 32 Footbrake racers who earn the opportunity to compete, will race for a complete Beal Racing Engines motor and BTE transmission, a $10,000 value. A field of 16 Jr. Dragster drivers will compete for a RACETECH dragster.

RACETECH, the industry leader in the manufacture of Super Comp and Super Pro dragsters, is based in Burlington, N.C. The company and its owner, Russ Farmer, have supported the Herbert Carolina Coalition Series since it first was conceived in 2002.

"We've got to thank everyone, especially Russ Farmer, Andy Beal, Doug Herbert and BTE, for making this program such a success," said Bob Harris of Piedmont Dragway. "I know that my cohorts, Kevin Hughes of Farmington Dragway, Jody Leazure of Mooresville Dragway and, of course, Steve Earwood of Rockingham Dragway, share my appreciation not just for the equipment but for the technical and personal support these individuals have provided to the races in the Carolina Coalition Series."

The 2004 Herbert Performance Carolina Coalition Series will consist of eight events, two each at the participating tracks.
