Capitol Raceway Schedules Entire Quarter Mile Resurface

Crofton, MD
Raceway Promotions, the new management of Capitol Raceway, has made repeated efforts to improve the track’s racing surface since they took over the facility in April. While both the track surface and the grounds have come a long way in such a short amount of time John Crane and BJ Herrell of Raceway Promotions are still not satisfied with the quality of the track’s surface. Utilizing the industry’s top resources to ensure their racers have the best possible quarter-mile, Raceway Promotions has decided to grind and resurface the entire track. The facility will close its doors the weekend of August 4th as the Penhall Company comes in to grind the track.
“Our racers deserve the best possible facility we can provide for them,” said Crane. “We want them to feel wanted and to know that we put our best foot forward for them. Grinding the track is the only way to ensure the finest surface conducive to the best runs our racers can throw at it. Our fans and the community supporting this track are ready to see the return of record breaking runs to Capitol Raceway. As the cooler weather approaches this fall, we plan to make that a reality.”
Capitol Raceway will be closed August 4th-9th, for the track resurfacing project. If all goes as planned the track will reopen on August 10th and resume their regular test-n-tune night that Friday as well as their Super Saturday bracket program.
